Work Stuff

So one of my jobs before I leave is to wade through all the New Issue from the major publishers for 2006 and select the best stuff for our annual reading sessions.

Look for a Top 10 list of this year's new choral selections in the near future, with MUSICAL EXAMPLES.

Suffice it to say that Good Text+Lousy Music = Musical Prostitution

One would think that given Kansas' propensity to outlaw all things immoral that they'd ban all choral music arranged or composed by Spevacek, Kirby Shaw, Greg Gilpin, and the Albrecht/Althouse duo at the state line.

Scary!

Sometimes my fascinations meet up. In this case early music and medical marvels. This is perhaps the most tragic and touching thing I've ever seen.

Clive Wearing was an early music expert living and working in London in the mid-eightys. A freakish virus attacked his brain and left him with only a seven-second memory, but a strong recollection of the things he loves/loved. Music and his wife.....

Give this a look.....you'll not forget it anytime soon.

Return of the Temporary Restraining Order

First,

If you've missed this post in the archive, scroll down to "Temporary Restraining Order" and give it a read.

After an hiatus lasting most of the current academic year, she's back.

I wonder if she still works at the Zoo?
