Ain't hypocrisy grand?

Missouri Baptists' executive director is having a go at halloween. Read it HERE

I'm particularly fond of his mention about how evil it is to use fear to control the will of other people. Have a listen to any of the editor's radio commentaries or read a few editorials.

Can you really imagine Jesus of Nazareth hanging out with these guys??

I guess since I feel drawn as an artist to the darker aspects of human nature and I like bitter, dark chocolate over sweeter milk chocolate I'm going to hell. The Bible said so (or rather the good reverend was able to find the right passage to support his argument; something that can be done with just about any spiritual argument). But that's all I have to say about Halloween. On to the hypocrisy...

One a more serious note, he also states (surprisingly without Biblical reference) that "Anytime you invite the enemies of Jesus into your life or home, albeit ' "innocently" ', you are giving spiritual ground to the enemy." Really? Anytime? Evidently the Baptist Bible says the Jesus only communed with those that were spiritually perfect. How interesting.

I also love how his "contemporary" examples are Wendy the Witch and Casper the Friendly Ghost. It is also of interest that he steered clear of Harry Potter.

This kind of hypocrisy drives me absolutely mad. Personally I'm more suspicious of a "Man of God" (a misnomer, really since aren't all who are of God, men [or persons] of God?) - especially in a 3-piece suit - than a homeless man who is asking for a little help. Actually I'd be more inclined to help the homeless guy.
